Webinar on the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership CPTPP

The Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) invites you to the upcoming webinar on the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), scheduled to take place on June 28 at 2:00 PM, Taipei Time.

CPTPP is a trade agreement among Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam. It evolved from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which was never ratified due to the withdrawal of the United States.

The eleven signatories have combined economies representing 13.4 percent of global gross domestic product, at approximately US$13.5 trillion, making CPTPP one of the world's largest free-trade areas by GDP, along with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, The European single market, and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

Jointly organized by CACCI and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), the webinar will feature expert speakers from Japan, Taiwan, and Australia who will share their perspectives on the following topics:

(1) Current status of the CPTPP (the signatories, newest members, current applicants, potential applicants, etc.)

(2) Rationale of the Agreement

(3) Benefits expected from the Agreement

(4) What are the challenges, issues, and/or criticisms for the implementation of the Agreement going forward? How may these challenges be overcome?
