The COVID-19 crisis has proven that trade plays a vital role in food system resilience, as evidenced by quick changes to normal trade patterns to meet needs as the pandemic took hold. The imperative to rapidly respond to food insecurity is likely to grow in the face of climate change and an escalation of more dramatic weather events. This event will examine global and regional mechanisms needed to correct and prevent trade restrictions, distortions and related challenges in order to enable resilient trade ecosystems.
This UN Food Systems Summit affiliated session - hosted by the International Agri-Food Network (IAFN) in partnership with the Government of Brazil and the International Chamber of Commerce - will explore game changing trade-based solutions to bolster the Food System which are of critical importance to food system stakeholders.
Developed in an interactive format, the virtual session - held on 26 July from 7:30 to 8:30 PM CET - will welcome a diverse of stakeholders involved in agriculture trade, policy-makers, farmer groups, private and civil society in order to foster collaboration and multistakeholder partnerships.
