ICC Pulse: Charting the course for 2025

ICC key engagements
The voice of the real economy on the global stage

14th World Chambers Congress
John Denton recently joined Australia’s Minister for Major Events, Sports and Tourism to announce the Government of Victoria’s support for the 14th World Chambers Congress (14WCC) and check in with the team at the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry who are our Congress co-hosts. Registrations for the Congress, which takes place in Melbourne in September 2025, are scheduled to open on 24 January.

Strengthening ties in Asia
Launching his 2025 global engagement, John will be heading to Seoul and Tokyo to strengthen collaboration with our two national committees, ICC Korea and ICC Japan. In Seoul, he will also meet Cheong Inkyo, Minister for Trade, to discuss international trade policy priorities and opportunities for engagement in ICC’s global initiatives. Discussions in Tokyo will focus on Japan’s role in global forums like the G7, G20, and APEC, as well as collaboration on climate, trade, and macroprudential policy.

Sustainable finance
Building on our engagement at COP29, ICC Chair Philippe Varin hosted a roundtable meeting earlier today with a cross-section of OECD ambassadors discussing potential policy reforms to accelerate climate finance flows to developing economies. The meeting was held ahead of a major OECD conference on sustainable finance in early February – and formed part of our strategic engagement with governments ahead of the UN’s development financing summit in June.

Middle East
ICC also joined a major gathering of public institutions and NGOs in London to discuss potential interventions to support the future reconstruction of Gaza and the West Bank – in line with commitments to enable sustainable peace in the Middle East region.
