G20 trade ministers have agreed to a set of 10 high-level principles to accelerate the adoption of digital trade processes

After months of painstaking engagement through our Digital Standards Initiative G20 trade ministers have agreed to a set of 10 high-level principles to accelerate the adoption of digital trade processes.

The 10 principles are:

  • Neutrality
  • Security
  • Trust
  • Interoperability
  • Data privacy
  • Reliability
  • Voluntary sharing of data
  • Collaboration
  • Traceability
  • Scalability

This is, to be sure, a great step forward in our collective effort to rid the global trading system of costly and cumbersome hard-copy documents. Aligning the world's largest economies behind a common vision for digital trade has huge potential to accelerate the adoption of the common standards and trusted technologies at the heart of our "DSI vision" for a stronger and more resilient trading system.
