The Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation has published its 2022 Annual Report outlining the impact of the Alliance through 10 projects in seven countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Exemplifying ways in which trade facilitation can address global challenges, projects include enhancing food security, speeding up imports of healthcare goods and vaccines to vulnerable populations; making supply chains more resilient; and making trade more inclusive by facilitating access to markets for smaller businesses and women. Digitalization underpins most of the reforms.
Annual Report 2022 presents a year in which all our hard work really paid off at scale. Successful delivery of 10 projects in seven countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America demonstrated yet again the effectiveness of our unique public private partnership approach to trade facilitation.
Continued progress goes far beyond the number of project completions – it also highlights the potential of trade facilitation to tackle some of our greatest shared challenges, including food security, global health, and disaster preparedness.
Besides generating significant, measurable time and cost savings, trade facilitation enhances transparency, providing the confidence and predictability necessary for driving inclusive economic growth.
Strengthening global supply chains by introducing better processes and by cutting red tape may not generate many headlines but it has never been more urgent.
