The first meeting of ICC Iran Intellectual Property Working Group was held to familiarize members with the goals and programs of the International Chamber of Commerce's Intellectual Property Commission, as well as the activities and missions of ICC Iran on June 9, 2021.
This meeting of the Working Group was chaired by Mohammad Khazaee, Secretary General of ICC Iran ICC. The responsibility of the Working Group is with Mr. Alireza Masoudi. The said Working Group was convened with the presence of the representatives from government agencies including the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Culture as well as the private sector.
The Secretary-General of ICC Iran introduced the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and its main functions and objectives in facilitating international and regulating international trade, its role in training the business community and resolving trade disputes. Referring to the ICC Paris twelve specialized commissions and their corresponding commissions in ICC Iran, he described the ICC Intellectual Property Commission as a global body that assists ICC in all aspects of intellectual property and innovation policies. The commission focuses on the importance of protecting intellectual property as a positive force for society and helping businesses make better use of IP systems.
He also called the mission of the international Property Commission to promote an efficient Intellectual Property system to support international trade, encourage creative investment and facilate sustainable economic development.
Mr. Khazaee pointed out that, considering the practical professional capabilities of Dr. Masoudi and esteemed personalities, the ICC Iran Intellectual Property Working Group could identify the challenges of intellectual property in the country and introduce an efficient intellectual property system for economic and business development.
In this meeting, Dr. Masoudi, while explaining the importance of the intellectual property rights, presented his proposed programs such as holding training courses, reviewing the activities of the relevant commissions in other national committees, reviewing the dimensions and issues related to intellectual property developments in Iran as well as, compilation and translation of relevant articles, books and documents.
Finally, the members of this working group presented their comments and suggestions for cooperation with the ICC Iran and this Working Group to introduce it to the economic activists and to hold future meetings of the Intellectual Property Working Group.
